Darren Fisher

Company Accountant

Darren brings a wealth of financial expertise to the team, with a tenure dating back to 2000. His career journey includes valuable experience at Northern Electric (now Npower), where he handled high-level customer complaints, and Dataform Print Management, part of the Sage Group, where he managed the purchase ledger.

Holding AAT and MAAT qualifications, Darren oversees all financial activities at Riverdale, encompassing purchase and sales ledgers, payroll, HMRC and VAT dealings, monthly P&L, pensions and even IT and HR support when needed.

In his downtime, Darren balances fitness and leisure. Weekends are dedicated to his two golden retrievers, with walks in the Lake District (aiming to conquer the Wainwrights) or wakesurfing on the lake.

Kevin Brown

General Manager

Kevin brings over 26 years of experience as General Manager at Riverdale Recycling. His career started as an apprentice at Miller International Ltd, where he progressed through roles such as Continuous Improvement Manager and Logistics Manager over a 12-year period.

He is a qualified First Aider (including mental health), IOSH certified, WAMITAB continuing competence holder and NVQ Level 4 in Continuous Improvement. He is also a member of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM).

Kevin manages a broad spectrum of responsibilities, from maintaining quality management systems and handling HR duties to scheduling outgoing loads, conducting quality inspections, and managing material sales and purchases. He’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves either, readily assisting with loading wagons, moving bales and operating baling machinery when needed.

When he’s not working, Kevin enjoys quality time with his wife and children, relaxing with a drink and a game of pool and supporting NUFC!

Michael Corbett

Production Manager

With three decades in heavy engineering, Michael has cultivated a deep understanding of production processes, progressing from the shop floor to senior management roles.

As Production Manager, his primary focus is to optimise efficiency and throughput by simplifying operations, while consistently achieving company objectives for safety, quality, cost and delivery.

In his spare time, Michael is an avid cyclist and walker, enjoys gardening and DIY, and is a keen sports spectator. He also values time spent socialising with his wife and friends and exploring new places through travel.

Jane Armstrong

Sales Manager

Jane is a seasoned Regional Sales Manager with 26 years of expertise in the waste and recycling industry. Her comprehensive knowledge spans various waste streams, including a specialised focus on food-to-energy solutions and confidential shredding. At Riverdale, she oversees the Confidential Shredding department, ensures GDPR compliance and conducts detailed site audits to assist clients in optimising their waste management strategies.

Known for building strong, enduring client relationships, Jane excels at problem-solving and implementing tailored solutions. She is also an active participant in industry organisations, including UKSSA and the North East Recycling Forum.

Beyond her professional commitments, Jane enjoys circuit training, spending quality time with her daughters and partner, exploring city destinations and connecting with friends over a good coffee.

Jackie Rogan

Project Manager

Jackie is the friendly and efficient Office Administrator at Riverdale Recycling, serving as the vital link between our clients and operations. With extensive experience in office support and accounts, complemented by an NVQ Diploma in Office Administration, Jackie ensures the smooth running of our daily activities.

Her responsibilities encompass managing customer calls and queries, processing sales invoices, overseeing petty cash, and accurately handling weekly wages. Jackie finds the most rewarding aspect of her role to be resolving customer queries and account issues, taking pride in delivering exceptional service and making a positive impact.

Outside of work, Jackie enjoys unwinding with a good book and her favourite TV shows. She also enjoys active pursuits, including golfing and, during the summer, playing outdoor bowls for her local club. For a bit of fun, she’s always ready to take to the karaoke stage!

Ken Barnett

Commercial Manager

Ken is a seasoned Commercial Manager with 25 years of extensive experience in the waste disposal and recycling industry. His career includes five years as a Regional Sales Manager at Suez, followed by 20 dedicated years at Riverdale.

Ken’s expertise encompasses a broad spectrum of waste management, from general and hazardous waste disposal to specialised areas such as bulk RDF, DMR, and WEEE. He is responsible for customer retention and driving new business, and excels at building strong client relationships and understanding their unique needs.

Outside of his professional life, Ken enjoys spending time at the gym.

Russ Craggs

Transport Coordinator

Russ is an integral part of Riverdale, ensuring the efficient and timely movement of materials. Prior to joining Riverdale, he gained valuable supervisory experience at Rayovac Europe Ltd.

At Riverdale, Russ is responsible for coordinating both recycling and security shredding collections, as well as managing the logistics of incoming and outgoing loads. He excels at optimising transport routes and schedules to meet the demands of our operations.

Russ is passionate about exceeding the expectations of both new and existing customers, believing that teamwork is essential to achieving exceptional service.

Outside of work, Russ is a keen cyclist, enjoying the physical activity and the opportunity to explore the outdoors.

Nathan Fisher

Management Trainee

Nathan is a dynamic Management Trainee at Riverdale. Prior to joining the team in December 2024, Nathan worked as an Associate Consultant for Search, specialising in recruitment within the construction and white-collar sectors.

Nathan holds a Diploma in Sports Therapy and is a certified forklift truck operator. He is now actively pursuing further qualifications in Health & Safety, First Aid, and Management to enhance his professional development.

In his current role, Nathan assists the General Manager in overseeing factory production, ensuring the quality of incoming and outgoing materials, and managing the loading and unloading of vehicles.

Outside of work, Nathan is a dedicated athlete, participating in CrossFit training at least four times a week with aspirations of competing in open competitions and eventually an Ironman. Nathan also enjoys golfing, wake surfing and trips to the Lake District.

General Manager

Mark is the General Manager at Riverdale Recycling’s Durham Depot, bringing a wealth of operational experience to his role. Prior to joining Riverdale, he served as a Production Supervisor at Global Recycling, honing his skills in managing complex production environments.

At the Durham Depot, Mark is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency and productivity. He takes pride in maintaining a well-organised and tidy work environment, finding satisfaction in seeing the results of a productive week.

Beyond his professional responsibilities, Mark enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends. He also finds enjoyment in walking his dog and appreciating the outdoors.

Michael Neale

Transport & Production Supervisor

As a dedicated Transport & Production Supervisor, Michael plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our day-to-day logistics and processing. His expertise is crucial in optimising the movement of materials, from planning vehicle routes to managing on-site production activities, all within the demanding and vital recycling sector.

Michael’s core responsibilities involve meticulously planning the daily work of our wagon fleet, ensuring timely collections and deliveries of recyclable materials across the region. He’s also deeply involved in the operational flow within the depot, overseeing the safe and effective processing of materials and maintaining high-quality standards.

Outside of work, Michael values his time with family and enjoys socialising with friends.

Jessica Mullen

Office Administrator

With over two decades of experience, Jess is the backbone of office operations at our Durham depot. An accomplished administrator known for her strong ability to support teams and ensure everything runs seamlessly, she anticipates customer needs, resolves issues proactively and keeps our busy environment organised and efficient.

As an expat, Jess brings a uniquely valuable perspective to her role, which enriches our team and allows her to approach challenges with a broad and inclusive view.

Outside the office, she is a busy parent to energetic children, a role that not only keeps her on her toes but also continually sharpens her already impressive multitasking and organisational skills! In her quieter moments, she finds a creative outlet in photography.
